Our Varsity program provides our most competitive program.
Our conference games are centered in Division I of WPSLA South,
considered by many to be among the highest level of play in
Pennsylvania. We are a contender for the state championship. Preparing
our team for such a championship is our coaching staff's primary
objective. In the process of reaching for this achievement we expect
from our players:
- Teamwork
- Sportsmenship
- Accountability
- Mental Toughness
- Realized athletic potential
Secondary Objectives
Many of our players, after graduation, go on to play Lacrosse
in college. Consistent with this fact, a secondary goal of our Varsity
program is prepare our players for college level play:
- Division I, II or III Lacrosse
- Club Lacrosse
Many of our coaches and assistants were college lacrosse players:
- Doug Miller
- Mike McBride
- Chris Cummings
- Matt Volzer
Doug Miller, our Varsity Head Coach, is significantly involved in college recruiting efforts:
- Counseling our players for college
- Encouraging strong academic performance
- Writing player recommendations to college coaches
- Promoting our players at recruitment conferences and gatherings
- Supporting watch lists of "1st Team" and "All American" candidates
Watch lists highlight our top players. They also draw in
recruiters to our games which benefit all of our players. While these
lists tend to single out players, they provide an opportunity for our
players to maintain perspective and modesty while offering incentive
for others to raise their level of play. It is no surprise that teams
with many players on a watch list illuminate the better teams. As
lacrosse is such an intertwined team game, great players need great
team mates and this synergy elevates play.
